Culminating event of Anagaa Nathan, 2019 ACTA apprentice in Bharatanatyam dance

2019 ACTA Apprentice Anagaa Nathan has been studying under master artist Guru Snigdha Venkatramani to use her art form (Bharatanatyam) to present her research proposal.

This unique research proposal features stories of women empowerment—both contemporary and ancient. This is a bold attempt by master and apprentice to draw parallels between powerful women—then and now, what makes them pioneers, and what they do to make that revolutionary change. The beautiful challenge in presenting this proposal is that it will be covered within the framework of a traditional dance form like Bharatanatyam and yet incorporate contemporary ideas, leaders and themes that would appeal to the strong woman of today. Through this presentation, the Anagaa and Snigdha also pay homage to the original practitioners (the Devadasis) who pioneered this art form.
