Welcome to the Plaza!
ACTA’s California Traditional Artists Plaza facilitates engagement with artists by foregrounding work-for-hire opportunities that will positively impact the livelihoods of traditional artists. During the Covid-19 pandemic, ACTA saw a need to build out a new tool to increase opportunities not just for sharing information, but for hiring traditional artists for both remote and in-person engagements, recognizing their work as critical to the economic recovery of the California arts sector.
The California Traditional Artists Plaza creates a new, centralized space for traditional artists to advertise their work and create new connections online.

Who may submit a profile?
The Plaza is a free resource for California-based traditional artists to share information about services or products they offer to the public. It also helps the public by supporting direct connections with artists who may offer artistic services they’re seeking. After staff review, each submission is turned into a short profile presenting details about the artist’s online or in-person lessons and performances (for example, djembe drum lessons) or products (for example, craft forms like quilts, beadwork, baskets, or even hand-built instruments). The public can reach out directly to the artist for more info, to schedule a lesson, hire the artist for a gig or consultation, or to purchase an item.
