Alma Plancich and Maria Kesovija, Organizational Mentors

The Croatian American Cultural Center, San Francisco, received $5,000 for an organizational mentorship with Alma Plancich and Maria Kesovija, directors of the Ethnic Heritage Council in Seattle.  Ms. Plancich and Ms. Kesovija will help the Slavonic Cultural Center develop an Artistic Program Development Plan in order to strengthen the center’s traditional arts programming.

The Croatian American Cultural Center (formerly the Slavonic Cultural Center) promotes the traditional arts of the Balkans through four different annual festivals: the San Francisco Tamburitza Festival in February, the Festival of the Mondolins in April, the Bulgarian Dance and Music Festival in May and the Marco Polo Festival in October.  They also produce the “Best of the Balkans” concert series and host a resident Croation choir, the Dalmacijo Singers.  The Croatian American Cultural Center hopes to use this mentorship to enrich their performances with educational programs.
