Photo © World Kulintang Institute Founded in 1988 by Executive Director and resident artist, Eleanor Academia, the World Kulintang Institute and Research Studies Center, Inc. is dedicated to the preservation, education and presentation of the rare, centuries old traditional gong/drum ensemble music from the Southern Philippines. Led by Academia, the World Kulintang Institute has performed for thousands at festivals, universities, schools, communities and private special events, including openings for the LA Philharmonic, Vice-President Al Gore, Pan American 2002 World Drum Festival and many others. Support from the Traditional Arts Development Program will hire professional graphic arts consultant, Marco Bustamante, to help plan, organize and develop a newly created professional brochure and marketing materials for the group.
