North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center—Nevada CityThe North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center (NCSCC), an organization devoted to enhancing the cultural community life of the San Juan Ridge, through art and cultural planning, will work with consultants Azriel Getz and Sara Greensfelder to co-coordinate the second annual North Columbia Folklife Festival with funding from the Traditional Arts Development Program. The festival, to take place in September 2004, will be used to reach out to specific cultural communities as well as general audiences in an effort to build bridges of understanding between all Californians. This year's festival will focus on Mexican cultural traditions found in the Nevada county region and California and will offer traditional music, dance, story, craft, and historical and contemporary perspectives through exhibit and presentations. Both consultants Azriel Getz and Sara Greensfelder co-coordinated the first annual NC Folklife Festival and have agreed to return to coordinate the 2nd Festival. They will draw on their previous experience and the support of the local Mexican population in the planning and production of the next festival.
