The Art of Native American Basketry: A Living Tradition is a comprehensive exhibition presented by the Autry National Center. Baskets from more than 100 cultures, arranged in eleven geographic regions, will be revealed in this selection of artworks from the world's largest collection of Native American baskets.

Heroes and Artisans, an exhibit at Mingei International Museum in Balboa Park, celebrates the 200th anniversary of Mexican Independence (1810), the 100th of the Mexican Revolution (1910) and the folk art that colorfully and vitally expresses the nation’s spirit. Just as the heroes of independence and the revolution were great artisans in crafting the nation’s constitution, laws and institutions, so are its many artisans also cultural heroes, vibrantly perpetuating Mexico’s historical memory and its distinctive, exuberant and vital artistic tradition.

Three new exhibits featuring Hawaiian textiles are set to open at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles on May 18.

Rina Metha, a disciple of Pandit Chitresh Das, has been with the Chitresh Das Dance Company since 2006 and performanced in Pt. Das' critically acclaimed productions including Pancha Jati, Shabd and Sita Haran.  An emerging soloist, Rina recently returned from India after touring with theChitresh Das Dance Company in Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore.

MetLife Foundation and the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts have announced the renewal of the MetLife Foundation Partners in Arts Education Program. The national initiative, now in its sixth year, aims to improve teaching and learning in the arts by supporting and promoting sustainable partnerships between community arts education organizations and public schools. Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded to support arts education partnerships during the 2010-2011 school year.

The Art of Native American Basketry: A Living Tradition is a comprehensive exhibition presented by the Autry National Center. Baskets from more than 100 cultures, arranged in eleven geographic regions, will be revealed in this selection of artworks from the world's largest collection of Native American baskets.

Heroes and Artisans, an exhibit at Mingei International Museum in Balboa Park, celebrates the 200th anniversary of Mexican Independence (1810), the 100th of the Mexican Revolution (1910) and the folk art that colorfully and vitally expresses the nation’s spirit. Just as the heroes of independence and the revolution were great artisans in crafting the nation’s constitution, laws and institutions, so are its many artisans also cultural heroes, vibrantly perpetuating Mexico’s historical memory and its distinctive, exuberant and vital artistic tradition.

This series of Asian culinary workshops will focused on traditional food culture driven by seasonal and local ingredients. Each 3 hour workshop consisted of a 2 hour hands on component, where the instructor and 15 participants prepared the dishes together.
