What is a feed?

To help users keep up with all the information published on the web, websites publish lists of updates, called "feeds," that indicate when new content has been posted. When you subscribe to a feed, a feed reader (such as Google Reader, which requires a free Google account) starts monitoring that feed for updates.

New content posted to your subscriptions will appear in Google Reader (or another feed reader of your choice), the same way that new emails show up in your email account. This way, you can keep up with all your favorites sites in one place, without having to visit each one individually.
