Los Angeles Arts Loan Fund

Organization Description:
Dedicated to supporting the capital and operating needs of Los Angeles area nonprofit arts organizations and individual artists.

The Los Angeles Arts Loan Fund was established in response to the demonstrated cash flow needs of independent artists and nonprofit arts organizations.  While large nonprofit institutions and businesses can use commercial lenders, individual artists and community arts groups generally cannot draw upon such resources or may have to pay unacceptably high interest rates to do so.  The Loan Fund works to fill this gap and to provide a useful financial tool for individual artists and small and midsized arts organizations.  The Loan Fund offers short-term loans up to $25,000 for individual artists, and $50,000 for arts organizations for a variety of uses.

The Loan Fund is independently funded by a consortium of foundations, corporations and governmental agencies including:  Annenberg Foundation, the James Irvine Foundation, Getty Foundation, Ahmanson Foundation, Boeing Foundation, Sony Pictures, Durfee Foundation, City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, and the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.

The Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) will direct lending to nonprofit arts organizations and the Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI) will direct lending to individual artists.
