Greater Los Angeles African/African-American Dance Music

Balle Fette Bu Senegal, a transnational ensemble led by master drummer Pape Diouf, has existed for more than 30 years with the primary focus of preparing Senegalese children to learn the traditions of sabar (dance) and djembe (drums).

In 2010, Balle Fette received support from ACTA’s Traditional Arts Development Program to work with consultant Dr. Anna Beatrice Scott to create a development plan for growing the group into a performing arts company and nonprofit organization.
