Action Alert - June 3, 2004

The Members of the Joint Budget Conference committee have officially been appointed and began deliberations yesterday (June 2).  The budget timeline is very tight with passage slated by June 15. (Which means the Conference committee will have to finish its work by about June 11 to meet the deadline.)

TAKE ACTION:  Please fax the legislators below ASAP.

Urge them to vote for the Assembly Budget sub-committee #4's recommendation to augment the California Arts Council (Item 8260) budget by $10 million (for a total general fund budget of $11.075 million).

Increasing California's investment in the Arts through the California Arts Council makes it possible for the Arts to increase its positive impact on the state's economy, tourism, education, tax revenues, local community revitalization, and the over 36 million Californians who are served by the Arts.

• RE: California Arts Council Budget (CAC) - Item 8260 - Support for $10 million augmentation

Info to include:

• Who are you and what is your group?
• What do you do in the community?
• How many people are members or support your group?
• Why supporting the Arts is important?
• That you support the $10 million augmentation. Remember, it was only a few years ago the CAC budget was at $30 million.
